Al-Zaytouna Centre for Studies and Consultations issued an updated and revised (2025) edition of the book, “Basic Facts on the Palestine Issue,” by Prof. Dr. Mohsen Mohammad Saleh. This edition is available in two formats: a text-only version, and another enriched with images and illustrations.
This book offers readers a concise yet comprehensive introduction to the Palestine issue. It presents essential information, facts, fundamentals and concepts necessary for engaging with the subject, while also providing a clear and extensive reference base that underpins an Islamic understanding of the Palestine issue.
The late Prof. Dr. Muhammad ‘Amara, wrote the introduction of the first edition of this book, in which he says, “This booklet succeeded in extracting the basic facts of this central issue, and presenting them in the frame of the exceptional political, intellectual and civilizational concepts… Its pages have become the Text that must be memorized and understood by every Arab and every Muslim, rather by every honest human being who seeks truth, justice and fairness…”
This book offers readers well-grounded information, based on scholarly sources, about the land of Palestine and its people. It highlights the key milestones in both its ancient and modern history, including the rise of the Zionist movement and its objectives, the British occupation of Palestine, the establishment of Israel, the displacement of the Palestinian people, and the policies of Judaization targeting the land, its people and its holy sites. The book also examines Israel’s sources of strength as well as its vulnerabilities.
The book examines Palestinian resistance and popular uprisings from the period of the British occupation to the present, as well as the establishment of the PLO and the principal Palestinian organizations. It addresses Arab and international roles, the Oslo Accords and their consequences, and the human dimension of the Palestine issue. Saleh further explores the positions on peace, the peace process and the Jews, and concludes that “the mission of liberating occupied Palestine is essentially a humane and civilized mission in which all nations and countries should contribute.”
